May's Runner of the Month - Shawn Harrison

1. Name and hometown? Cover of the Runner's Anniversary speical J. Shawn Harrison,  I grew up in Malad, Idaho. I've called Cache Valley home for almost 28 years. I've lived in Logan, Millville and just moved to Nibley. 2. Funniest thing on a run? This one is hard. I was captured in a photo during last year's EPIC relay holding an umbrella in the wind and rain that seemed to make a lot of  people chuckle, especially those in my van as I waited for our runner. But there have been a couple of times when I've run off into the bushes on long runs along the road to pee, only to have a car or truck slowly drive by and stare at me. The last guy to catch me was laughing pretty hard. 3. Food you eat right before you run? I don't eat before I run. If I'm doing a long run or a race, I will eat a banana about an hour before. I do drink water, but I've got a sensitive stomach and have learned the hard way to run on an empty stomach. At least it works

Runner of the Month - Roxie McBride

1. Name and hometown?     I was born and raised in Logan … spent my whole life here (that’s a long time)! I moved  to Millville almost 20 years ago and love the “country” life. I love to travel and get out of  the valley. My favorite part of a vacation is coming out of Sardine Canyon and seeing  Cache Valley.  2. Funniest thing on a run?   I was running Ragnar Florida Keys. They had warned us (when running by the water) to  be aware of exotic snakes and spiders more than alligators. I had a 10 mile run in the  middle of the night and was unfamiliar with the area. My support van was a few miles up  the road and I didn’t want to get lost. I was concentrating on making sure that I could see  “butt” lights ahead of me. As I was running I could see a shadow of a HUGE  TARANTULA on the sidewalk. There were bushes and brush on both sides so I couldn’t  run on the road. I’m not a screamer but, I did yell pretty loud as I jumped over that damn  banana peel!  3. Food you eat rig

February Runner of The Month - JoAnna Sorerson

Name and hometown? JoAnna Sorensen, grew up in Smithfield Utah. 2. Funniest thing on a run? Oh my word, so many funny things during training runs and races! That’s what happens when you don’t take yourself too seriously. Probably one of my most memorable sillies was a few years ago at the Top of Utah Half Marathon. A small group of us were bringing up the rear, just running it to socialize and make some memories. Definitely not in it for time. We stopped at the Maverick in Nibley and all bought drinks to cross the finish line with. Yes, I had a fountain Mountain Dew in my hand for the last three miles or so. I think there’s still a picture of us at the finish line floating around the NERC page somewhere 3. Food you eat right before you run? I rarely eat anything  before a run - who wants to feel heavier than they already do? Not me! If I’m running more than a half marathon distance I’ll maybe eat a banana or half a bagel beforehand, but still not much. 4. Long
